Delaware Filing Deadline - Tuesday, April 30

LAST MINUTE DELAWARE TAX HELP
www.state.de.us/revenue

Wilmington, Del. - With less than two weeks to Delaware's filing deadline, William M. Remington, Director of Revenue, announced today that 67 percent of the 425,000 expected returns have been filed; 63 percent digitally.

Of the 284,000 returns filed, more than 180,000 have been filed digitally, a 24 percent increase over the number filed this time last year. More than 190,700 refunds have been issued averaging $347.

"The number of taxpayers filing digital returns this year grew faster than expected," said Mr. Remington. "We anticipated 50 percent of Delaware returns would be filed digitally, but 63% has exceeded our expectations demonstrating the confidence taxpayers have in digital filing - filing methods that make filing easier and refunds faster."

"Through the final days of this filing season, I continue to urge taxpayers to use a digital method to file their returns, not paper," said Mr. Remington. "Problem-free digital returns will result in a refund turnaround time of about a week compared with paper returns that could take up to a month when filed between now and April 30."

Mr. Remington added that digital filing not only provides the best opportunity for problem free filing and fast refunds, but also saves taxpayer dollars by reducing the cost of processing paper returns.
